With heavy hearts and profound love, we announce the passing of Theresa Grace Sutton, who left this world peacefully on May 13, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and presence of her cherished family. Born on June 20, 1964, in the quaint town of Warsaw, North Carolina, Theresa was a beacon of light and joy to all who knew her. She was 61 years old.
Theresa was the beloved daughter of the late Henry Jacob Sutton Jr. and Bessie Faison Sutton, who instilled in her the virtues of kindness, faith, and resilience. She was preceded in death by her parents and her precious daughter, T'Keyah Sutton Rose, whose spirit she carried with her through every step of life.
A proud graduate of Condosa High School in Washington, DC, Theresa continued her pursuit of knowledge at Sampson Community College, where she earned an associate degree. Her education was a testament to her commitment to self-improvement and her desire to set a strong example for her family.
Theresa was the life of every gathering, her infectious laughter and quick wit lighting up the room. She had an unparalleled gift for creating joy and a penchant for sharing jokes that would lift anyone's spirits. Her love for true crime shows kept her mind sharp, and her culinary adventures, driven by her knack for indulging in delectable treats, were legendary among friends and family.
Her unwavering faith was a cornerstone of her life. Even in times of illness, Theresa praised the Lord, finding solace and strength in her relationship with Him. Her spiritual devotion was an inspiration to those around her, offering comfort and hope in times of need.
Theresa leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that lives on through her surviving family. Her devoted son, Erick Sutton, and his wife, Miracle, both of Warsaw, NC, held a special place in her heart. Her siblings, Sharon Riddick and her husband Andrew of Warsaw, NC, and Henry Sutton of Raleigh, NC, shared in the joys and challenges of life with her. She was a cherished aunt to her nephew, Keon Sutton, and her niece, Sharee Wilson.
The pride and joy of Theresa's life were her seven grandchildren: Ahmad Williams, Tyquise Wilson, Jamonie Bizzell, Azariah Sutton, Violet McMillan, Jason McMillan, and Liston Rose III. Their smiles brought her endless happiness and fulfillment.
Her extended family included her special cousin, LaShonda Huell, and a circle of dear friends who were as close as family: Valerie Williams, Annetta Jordan, Kevin Smith, and Patrice Fields.
