December 27, 1926 — June 19, 2026

Theresa Crystelle Courtney, affectionately known as Tracy, peacefully entered eternal rest on June 19, 2026, at the age of 99. Born on December 27, 1926, in the humble surroundings of Grandfield, Tillman County, Oklahoma, Tracy’s life was a testament to love, faith, and unwavering dedication to her family, church, and community. Tracy was the cherished daughter of Dollie V. and Loyace D. Hicks. She grew up deeply connected to her parents, who instilled in her values of hard work and devotion. She is now reunited in heaven with her grandparents, Steven S. and Sarah E. Hicks, her beloved parents, her sisters Martello Mozelle Hicks and Oleta Estelle Hicks, her former spouse Calvin Lesley Courtney, her son Rex Allen Courtney, and her granddaughter Melanie K. Clark Hamm. Tracy leaves behind a legacy of love through her surviving family members: her daughters, Debra Dee Courtney, Leslie Sue Elsner (Sue) and her husband Gary N. Elsner, and Lisa Lynn Clark Markham and her husband Larry Markham. Tracy was a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren: Zachary Dee Courtney, Claire Alexis Pearson, Melissa Crystelle Hylands, Kimberly Rose Gerner, Chad Travis Elsner, William Matthew Elsner, Heather Marie Elsner, and Andrew James Clark. Her love extended to her 11 great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride. A lifelong learner, Tracy completed her high school education and felt privileged to achieve an Associate's Degree, marking the beginning of a remarkable career. Her professional journey as a bookkeeper spanned over 50 years, including roles as a civilian at Fort Riley in Kansas and with American National Insurance. She served as a Vice President and Manager at Valley National Bank, culminating in her crowning achievement—working at her home church, First Southern, until she retired at the age of 87. For 60 years, Tracy was an active and devoted member of First Southern Baptist Church, now known as Vista Church, where she taught the ladies Sunday School Class and cultivated lifelong friendships. Her Bridge-playing companions and the church's ladies group were among her dearest peer groups, with whom she shared countless cherished moments. Tracy’s life was defined by her steadfast dedication to her Lord, her family, and her church. Her gentle spirit, warm heart, and unwavering faith touched all who knew her. She played Bridge with enthusiasm until the age of 97, and her presence in the church community was a beacon of light and love. A service celebrating Tracy’s remarkable life will be held on July 18, 2026, at 09:30 AM at Vista Church, located at 5230 N Scottsdale Road, Paradise Valley, AZ 85253. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Royal Hospice for their compassionate care and to Vista Church for hosting the service and reception. Special thanks to Kevin Fryrear for officiating the service and sharing his musical blessings. In lieu of flowers, the family invites those who wish to honor Tracy's memory to consider a donation to a charity of their choice, as a reflection of Tracy’s generous spirit and commitment to helping others. Tracy Crystelle Courtney’s legacy of love, faith, and service will forever be cherished and remembered by all who were fortunate to be touched by her grace and kindness.
