Easton, Maryland—Theophilus Painter Hanson, Jr., affectionately known to many as T.P., passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 15, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on January 9, 1948, in Easton, Maryland, T.P. was a gentle soul with a zest for life and an unyielding love for adventure. T.P. was the beloved son of the late Theophilus Painter Hanson, Sr. and Edwina Harley Hanson, who instilled in him the values of kindness and laughter that he carried throughout his life. Predeceased by his parents, T.P. is survived by his loving sister, Latisha Hanson, who shared many treasured memories with him throughout the years. A dedicated father and grandfather, T.P. leaves behind his daughter, Stephanie Bass, along with her husband Kevin, and their children Christopher, Catherine, and Charlotte. His son, Trey Hanson, and his spouse Corey, continue to honor his legacy with their children, Amos and Rory. T.P.'s family was the pride and joy of his life, and he delighted in the time spent with his five grandchildren, always ready with a joke or a story to share. Educated at Robert Morris University, T.P. earned a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. However, it was his career at Excursions Unlimited that truly fueled his passion. Leading tour groups across the continental United States, T.P. embraced the opportunity to travel and meet new people, enriching the lives of countless individuals with his infectious enthusiasm and warmth. Beyond his professional endeavors, T.P. had a deep love for motorcycles and vintage cars—interests that took him on numerous road adventures, always seeking the thrill of the open highway. His laughter was as enduring as the roads he traveled, often leaving those around him with a lighter heart and a smile. T.P.'s life was a testament to the power of humor and friendship. He was a loyal friend, a man with a kind heart who made it his mission to brighten the days of those he encountered. His jokes and stories will be fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to have known him. A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor T.P.'s life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Blind and Low Vision Association, an organization close to T.P.'s heart. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Visiting Angels, the Hospice Savannah Staff, and the devoted members of The Social Assisted Living and Bryan County Health and Rehabilitation for their compassionate care and support. As we bid farewell to T.P., we celebrate a life well-lived—a life filled with laughter, love, and adventure. His memory will forever be cherished by his family and friends, and his spirit will continue to inspire those who knew him.
