Theodore William (Ted) Kohl
December 21, 1930 — June 29, 2026
Theodore William (Ted) Kohl, a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, slipped away peacefully from this world on June 29, 2026, at the venerable age of 95. Born on December 21, 1930, in Fairport, NY. Ted's life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and quiet strength, woven intricately through the lives of those he touched.
Ted was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Katherine (Sullivan) Kohl, whose partnership and love were the bedrock of his life. Together, they built a family that would grow to become his proudest legacy. Ted and Mary shared a union characterized by deep devotion and mutual respect, forming a partnership that was a testament to enduring love and commitment.
A man whose quiet, confident authority provided comfort and guidance, Ted was the cornerstone of a large and loving family. His legacy continues through his seven children: Kathy (Bear), Tracey (whose beloved husband Thomas predeceased the family in 2024), Michael (Kathy), J.T. (Dawn), Mary (Jeff), Anne Marie, and Chris (Andrea). His children remember him as a father who was always there, offering wisdom and support, teaching them strength and humility through his own example.
Ted's influence extended to his 15 grandchildren, 13+ Great Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews - and their families, wonderful neighbors and friends throughout the years. Each of whom carries a piece of his spirit forward into the world.
A man of integrity and simplicity, Ted's life was marked by a deep appreciation for the simple joys—whether it was, playing with his children, grand children and pets, watching a UConn women's basketball game, watching and listening to Andre Rieu's Johann Strauss Orchestra, a thoughtful conversation, or the laughter of family gathered around the dinner table. His gentle demeanor and thoughtful insights left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Ted loved fishing and camping. He was always willing to teach the skills necessary for both.
Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he left behind.
