It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Theodore Roosevelt Blackwell, affectionately known to many as "Blackwell ." He left us unexpectedly on April 7, 2026, at the age of 61, following a heart attack. Ted passed away in Jackson, Michigan, the place where his remarkable journey began on May 14, 1964. Ted was a man whose presence could light up any room. Born and raised in Jackson, he was deeply rooted in his community and cherished by all who knew him. His life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and resilience, woven together with the threads of compassion and an indomitable spirit. Though his path was not without its challenges, Ted's legacy is one of unwavering dedication to his family and friends. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Brenda Lennox, whose memory he cherished dearly. Together, they shared over ten years of a deeply loving marriage, marked by enduring companionship and mutual respect. Brenda was not only his partner but his best friend, someone he had hoped to grow old with. Ted leaves behind an extended family that he adored and who adored him in return. He is survived by his daughters, Sophia Blackwell and Samayra Alvarez, who were the pride and joy of his life. Ted's love extended to his grandchildren—eight with a ninth expected in November—and one great-grandchild, all of whom brought immense joy to his life. His family was his world, and he was theirs. An active member of the Church of God for the past seven years, Ted found solace and strength in his faith. His church community remembers him as a loving and caring man, always ready to lend a hand or a listening ear. His joyful spirit was infectious, and his presence was a beacon of hope and happiness. Ted had an uncanny ability to transform sadness into smiles, and his cheerful, playful nature will be missed by all. Ted's life will be celebrated on May 2, 2026, at 11:30 AM at Bethel Church, located at 1691 Springport Road, Jackson, MI 49202. Family, friends, and community members are invited to join in honoring a life that touched so many. In the words of his family: "Theodore was very loved by his grandchildren, wife, children, other family members, friends, church members, and the community. He was a great guy, a loving, caring husband, father, and grandfather. He’s my best friend, someone I expected to grow old with." Though his journey on this earth has ended, the impact of Ted's life will remain in the hearts of those he loved and who loved him. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
