It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Thelma Jean Huntley on September 14, 2026, at the age of 90 in her beloved hometown of Morrisville, Vermont. Born on April 1, 1933, Thelma was the cherished daughter of Steven Huntley and Florence Stearns Huntley. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Kenneth, and her sister-in-law Marilyn. Thelma was a devoted companion, loving aunt, and great-aunt, survived by her long-time companion, Lloyd Kinney. Her legacy lives on through her two nieces, Terry (Karel) Lidral and Joanne (Doug) Dezotelle, a great-niece, two great-nephews, two great-great nieces, and one great-great nephew. Each cherished memory is a testament to the love she generously shared throughout her life. A proud alumna of People's Academy and Johnson State College, Thelma earned a Bachelor of Arts in Teaching, dedicating her career to nurturing young minds. Her love for community extended beyond the classroom, as she was an active and beloved member of the Eden Congregational Church and later the Hyde Park Congregational Church, where she served as Choir Director for many years. Music was one of the many ways Thelma expressed her vibrant spirit. Thelma's passion for sports was evident in her active lifestyle. She was a dedicated softball player and coach for the women's Eden Lakers, leading them to several championships. Bowling was another favorite pastime, but above all, Thelma's heart belonged to the Boston Red Sox, a team she supported with unwavering loyalty. In keeping with Thelma's wishes, a private ceremony will be held in her honor. The family extends their deep gratitude to Stephanie Sweet for her love and understanding, which made this journey smoother. To honor Thelma's memory, donations may be made to the Lamoille Home Health Agency in Morrisville, Vermont, an organization close to her heart. Thelma Jean Huntley will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and the boundless love she offered to all who knew her.
