Sharon Lee Wyman Lipton

Sharon was born to Jim and Louise Wyman, in Salinas, California, Monterey County. She is a direct descendant of the Esselen Tribe of Monterey. Jim died at a young age. Louise married Vernon "Marty" Thielman, and in 1949, Sharon and her older sister Barbara, and 2 younger sisters Cindy and Thelda went to live, in Sherman, South Dakota, so Marty could take over the family farm when his parents retired. Her bother Duane and sister Marlene were born there. Sharon and siblings told stories of the many chores they had to do both laughing and complaining about them. Sharon was put on the tractor to pull the hay and said she was so scared because she was only 13 and never had driven anything before. There was a scary bull, cows to milk, warm eggs to remove from hens, and the pranks like leaving their brother in the old cemetery across the street after dark. Louise told that one day she was sitting a pie on the shelf above the sink to cool, and Sharon came down by the window from the 2nd story window. Sharon said Barbara pushed her, but Barbara said she didn't. She said she told her she'd push her if she didn't jump. It's a wonder Louise lived to 75 after raising 5 girls and a boy with all of them so enthusiastic. When it was time for high school, Sharon said she wanted to go live with her Aunt Dorothy (Louise's sis) and Uncle Bob, in San Francisco. She never wanted to wear another pair of coveralls, or tend to any farm animals, or garden, again. So off she went to live on Nob Hill to be spoiled by her childless aunt and uncle. In 1960, she graduated from Galileo High School, in San Francisco. She went to work at an insurance company then PacBell for at least 10 years, until she decided to have a family and be a stay-at-home Mom. Later she worked at Cedars Textile Arts, in San Rafael. She retired numerous times, but returned many times to help, until age 80. Sometimes she did some farm chores; like helping shear sheep. Around 1962, she met Donald Robert Lipton. January 9th, 1966, she and Bob were married in San Francisco, and celebrated 59 years of marriage. Their most cherished accomplishment was when Nicole Louise was born, May 4th, 1975, in San Rafael. Sharon loved being Nicole's Mom. She and Bob had many adventures, hiking, skiing, a with and camping with friends and family. It was always some kind of adventure. Once we almost drowned at Melones Lake, because the plug wasn't in the boat. Another time when they went over Sonora Pass with Duane's family and the Toriumi's Duane's Caravan had trouble and everyone had to push it over the top. Always something and too many to list. She started a knitting class before Nicole was born, and there were block parties, and she was active in her community events. Lots of fun times with the Toriumis, Ray and Lynn Wimes, the Blantons, and others. Among the many adventures of Bob and Sharon were their experiences in the wind tunnel, the hot air balloon, and the grandest adventure on a cruise, in 2004, to Italy, Monaco, Greece, Malta, Turkey, Ukraine, Austria, and Germany. She adventured to Alaska and back, in Thelda's motorhome with her and Cindy. Once she and Bob traveled to Mexico City, where Sharon got very sick. Shortly after she found out she was pregnant. Sharon was a very nice and helpful person, and left a mark of humility and caring to make the world a better place.
