In Loving Memory

Thaedus Matthews
October 27, 1993 — March 11, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Thaedus Matthews, a beloved son, brother, Marine, and friend, who left us too soon on March 11, 2026, at the age of 33. Thaedus was a remarkable individual whose presence was a cherished gift to all who knew him.
Born on October 27, 1993, in Chicago, Illinois, Thaedus was the heart and soul of his family and community. Raised in Chicago, he was the beloved son of Linda and Robert Matthews, and a devoted brother to Jessica, Daniel, and Marcus Matthews. From a young age, Thaedus displayed a generous heart, a sharp sense of humor, and a strength of character that defined who he was.
His commitment to service was evident in all aspects of his life, especially in his distinguished service in the United States Marine Corps. Thaedus wore the values of honor, courage, and commitment not only in uniform but in everyday life. His fellow Marines knew they could always count on him for support, and his dedication to his country was unwavering.
Thaedus was known for his kindness, vibrant laughter, and unwavering loyalty. Whether he was sharing a story, lending an ear, or simply being present, he brought comfort and warmth to every room. His courage and compassion were an inspiration, and he leaves behind many cherished memories.
After attending Lincoln High School in Chicago, Thaedus went on to earn a degree from Midwestern State University. He later pursued a career as a logistics coordinator for Windy City Shipping, having previously worked as a warehouse supervisor at Lakefront Distribution Services. His colleagues respected him for his diligence and his ability to bring humor and camaraderie to the workplace.
Thaedus is survived by his loving parents, Linda and Robert Matthews, his siblings, Jessica, Daniel, and Marcus Matthews, and dear friends who were like family. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Margaret and George Matthews. The impact of his life — both in service and in personal relationships — will never be forgotten.
A memorial service to honor Thaedus’s life and legacy will be held on March 27, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Evergreen Funeral Home, located at 4827 N. Clark Street, Chicago, IL. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate his life with stories of his strength, laughter, and love.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to The Trevor Project, a nonprofit dedicated to suicide prevention and mental health support for young people, in Thaedus’s honor, to help support others in need.
As his family lovingly shares, “Thaedus, your laughter, kindness, and courage will live in our hearts forever. We will carry your memory with us every day and honor the love and joy you brought into our lives. Rest peacefully, beloved son, brother, and friend.”
Thaedus Matthews will forever be remembered for the light he brought into the world and the legacy of love and service he leaves behind.
