Terry N. Baker
March 13, 1946 — May 29, 2026
With heavy hearts and profound respect, we announce the peaceful passing of Terry N. Baker, aged 80, on May 29, 2026. Terry departed this world quietly, surrounded by the love of his family, after a long and courageous battle with several health issues. Born on March 13, 1946, in the quaint town of Oswego, New York, Terry was a beacon of strength, love, and perseverance to all who knew him.
Terry's early years in Oswego were marked by a deep sense of community and family, values he carried throughout his life. After graduating from Oswego High School in 1964, he answered the call to serve his country, joining the United States Air Force. As a dedicated radio intercept analyst, Terry proudly served in West Berlin and Turkey, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. His years in service were not only formative but also a testament to his unwavering commitment to his country and its values.
Upon returning to civilian life, Terry pursued further education at the Rochester Business Institute, setting the stage for a distinguished career in information security. He lent his expertise to esteemed organizations such as Kodak in Rochester, NY, and IBM, ultimately applying his talents across various financial institutions in several states. Terry's professional journey was marked by integrity and innovation, earning him the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike.
In 2010, Terry and his beloved wife, Sue Saxhaug, embarked on a new chapter, retiring to the serene beauty of Eagle River, Wisconsin. Their home was a sanctuary of love and laughter, where family and friends were always welcomed with open arms.
Terry's passions extended far beyond his professional achievements. He was an avid outdoorsman, finding solace and joy in the natural world. His love for hunting deer and grouse was rivaled only by his enthusiasm for trout fishing; he never missed the excitement of opening day. Whether casting a line on Cranberry Lake in Wisconsin or Lake Ontario in New York, Terry cherished these moments of tranquility and connection with nature.
Above all, Terry cherished his family. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Sue, whose partnership and love were the cornerstones of his life. His daughters, Amy (George) Duvall and Julie (David) Kelly, were his pride and joy, each a testament to his legacy of love and resilience. Terry's grandsons, Andrew (Daniele) Duvall, Mitchell Duvall, Allie Dillman, and Owen Dillman (fiancée Kate Simplicio), and his great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Sullivan Duvall, will forever carry the memory of his gentle spirit and enduring wisdom.
Terry's life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and perseverance. In his memory, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Vilas County Sheriff's Department K-9 Unit, honoring Terry's spirit of service and community support.
As we bid farewell to a remarkable husband, father, grandfather, and friend, we celebrate a life well-lived, a legacy of love, and a heart that touched all who knew him. May Terry N. Baker rest in peace, forever cherished in our hearts.
