In Loving Memory

Terrence G. Kelley
March 5, 1940 — June 5, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Terrence G. Kelley, who departed this world on June 5, 2026, at the age of 86. Terry, as he was fondly known, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his beloved family after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Born on March 5, 1940, in St. Joseph, Missouri, Terry was the cherished son of the late Gilbert and Wilma Kelley of Savannah, MO.
Terry's journey through life was marked by his steadfast devotion to family, his remarkable career, and his unwavering faith. On July 11, 1964, he united in marriage with the love of his life, Mary Rogers. Together, they shared 61 wonderful years, raising four children and playing an integral role in the lives of their five grandsons. Terry's legacy of love and kindness continues through his devoted wife, Mary, their sons Andrew and Ethan Kelley, and their daughter, Sarah Potash, MD. His memory will also be cherished by his five grandchildren (Peter, Luke, and John Potash, Evan Kelley, and Nathan Kelley), who carry forward the family values he so dearly instilled.
A proud alumnus of the University of Missouri, Terry graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and a Master's in Journalism. His professional journey began as a newspaper science editor, paving the way for a distinguished career in public relations and executive roles within several pharmaceutical companies. Through his work, he made lasting contributions, always guided by integrity and a commitment to excellence.
Terry's faith was an enduring anchor throughout his life. As an active parishioner and elder at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Springfield, NJ, he found joy and purpose in serving his community. His dedication to his faith continued as a committed volunteer and parishioner at various churches in Morris County, NJ, where he touched many lives with his kindness and generosity.
In his leisure time, Terry found great joy in tending to his home and yard, often accompanied by the comforting sounds of NY Mets games. A man of many interests, he once trained and showed dogs, sharing this passion with his family. The Lake of the Ozarks held a special place in his heart, serving as a backdrop for cherished family reunions and getaways with his brothers.
Terry was renowned for his infectious humor, often delighting friends and family with his playful "dad jokes." His warmth and friendliness made strangers feel like lifelong friends, and his love for children was evident in his unwavering support at his grandsons' games. Known for his compassionate spirit, Terry was a friend to all and a loving companion to the family dogs who brought him much joy.
Preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Wilma, his brothers Kim, David, and Patrick Kelley, and his beloved daughter, Megan McKee Kelley, Terry's departure leaves a void that will be filled with the beautiful memories he created with those he loved.
The Kelley family extends heartfelt gratitude to the devoted staff of Brightview Senior Living for their compassionate care over the past two years. Special thanks are also extended to Ennoble Hospice Care and all who offered support during Terry's final journey.
Terry's life was a testament to love, resilience, and the beauty of human connection. His memory will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. As we bid farewell, we celebrate the remarkable legacy he leaves behind—a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering faith.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to honor Terry's life and the indelible mark he left on the hearts of those he touched. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to organizations supporting Alzheimer's research and care.
Join us in celebrating a life well lived knowing that he is now whole and home with his Savior, Jesus.
