TERRENCE D HOLMES
November 13, 1969 — April 30, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Terrence D. Holmes on April 30, 2026, at the age of 56. Terrence left this world surrounded by the warmth and love of his family at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut, the very place where his journey began on November 13, 1969.
Terrence was the beloved son of Robert Holmes and the late Patricia Holmes. He was predeceased by his cherished mother, his paternal grandparents Willie and Thelma Holmes, maternal grandmother Addie Council- Marble as well his long time companion Angie McNatt , loving aunt Barbara Jean ,uncle David (DC) Holmes
two cousins, Mark Marble and William Brown, who were more like brothers to him.
Terrence was a devoted father to his daughters Freda Laquanna, Patrice, Destinee, Emani, Chenea and Taraji one son Darren who he raised as his own were the pride and joy of his life. He leaves behind a loving legacy his 6 grand children He is also survived by his father Robert Holmes, his brother John (DJ) MClaurin sister Dencia Williams, nephew Dechen MClaurin aunt Angelene Holmes and Valisa Kinnion with many cousins he held a deep love in his heart for his cousins Phil Holmes, Tara and Deon Wright, Chell Council, and Sean Wiggins, for whom he had an overwhelming affection.
Educated in New Haven, Terrence attended several local schools, including Wilbur Cross High School. Later in life, he pursued his passion and earned his CDL license, embarking on a fulfilling career as an independent truck driver. It was in this role that Terrence found his niche, embracing the open road at night which he love to drive at night which he said gave him peace and clarity and the independence that came with it.
Terrence was a man of varied interests and simple pleasures. He found joy in the beauty of nature, often taking long walks in the park to admire the scenery, watch the birds, and enjoy the tranquility of rivers and lakes. A lover of music, he held a special fondness for the soulful sounds of Gerald Levert his favorite song i will give anything to fall in love He also found solace and adventure in the pages of books by his favorite author, Donald Goines.
Known for his distinctive personality, Terrence was a man of straightforward honesty and witty sarcasm. He was someone who had to warm up to you his silence could speak volumes when he was not fond of someone, but his smile was a testament to his affection for those he loved. Terrence's candid nature and genuine character left an indelible impression on everyone he met.
Terrence's life was a testament to resilience, love, and the pursuit of happiness. His memory will forever be cherished by his family and friends, who will remember him for his unwavering love, his unique sense of humor, and his ability to find beauty in the world
