In Loving Memory

Tawny Marie Ego
October 29, 1980 — October 7, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for her life that we announce the passing of Tawny Marie Ego on October 7, 2026. Born on October 29, 1980, in Santa Ana, California, Tawny’s journey on this Earth ended peacefully, surrounded by the family and friends who cherished her through every step of her courageous battle with brain cancer.
Tawny’s life was a testament to strength, service, and love. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, she served her country with unwavering dedication and a spirit that inspired those around her. After her honorable service, Tawny continued her commitment to making the world a better place through her career with the United States Forest Service. Her work there was not just a job, but a reflection of her deep appreciation for the natural world and her unyielding work ethic.
Fiercely independent, strong-willed, and adventurous, Tawny was a woman who truly lived on her own terms. Yet, her greatest joy came from the people she loved. Her friendships were marked by decades of loyalty, shared memories, laughter, and unbreakable bonds. She believed in showing up for those she cared about and was a constant source of strength and support.
Tawny is survived by her loving parents, John Ego and Debra Ulrey, her cherished sister Lyndsey, and her beloved nieces Justine, Hayleigh, and Peyton, along with her nephew Benson. She also leaves behind her dear grandmother, Karen. Though she did not have children of her own, Tawny's nurturing spirit and love touched the lives of many young ones in her family, including her nieces and nephew.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to Tawny's Angels: April, Kim, Aaron, and Katie. Your love, compassion, and kindness provided comfort, dignity, and peace to Tawny during her most challenging days. A special acknowledgment is extended to April, whose extraordinary care and compassion elevated her from caregiver to family. You will always hold a special place in our hearts.
A celebration of Tawny's life will be held on November 1, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Vida Buena Farm, located at 3286 Vallecito Bypass Rd., Vallecito, CA 95251. Family and friends are invited to join us in honoring her remarkable life and legacy.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Tawny’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization that was close to her heart.
