It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Tammy Kaye Matchett Henry, who left us peacefully on June 4, 2026, at the age of 62. Tammy was born on November 29, 1963, in Brenham, Texas, to Benny Ray Matchett and Audrey Mae Kirk. Her journey through life touched countless hearts and left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered.
Tammy was a vibrant spirit who grew up in the scenic landscapes of Terlingua, Texas. She graduated from Alpine High School before pursuing higher education at Sam Houston State University, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree. She spent the majority of her adult life in the Houston area, where she built a beautiful family and a thriving career.
On November 19, 1988, Tammy married the love of her life, Christopher Mark Henry. Together, they shared a life filled with love and laughter until he preceded her in death on January 29, 2023. Tammy is also predeceased by her beloved father, Benny Ray Matchett; her dear sister, Audrey Diane Matchett; and her father-in-law, Bob Miller Henry.
Tammy's loving spirit lives on through her devoted mother, Audrey Matchett; her cherished children, daughter Sydney Henry and son Miller Henry, who together with Tammy, proudly own an Allstate Insurance Agency; her sister and brother-in-law, Pamela and Danny Yocham; her mother-in-law, Margaret Henry; and her sister-in-law, Sally Kmiecik. Tammy was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews, all of whom she adored.
Known for her infectious humor and boundless energy, Tammy was the life of the party and the brightest star in every room. Her unique spirit and loving nature ensured that no one who met her could ever forget her. Her favorite color was purple, a fitting hue that symbolizes the mystery and magic she brought into our lives. Tammy found joy in crafting, cooking, and spending time with friends and family, often enjoying the simple pleasures of floating in the pool or hosting lively parties.
Tammy's legacy is one of unwavering dedication to her family, friends, and the business she poured her heart into. She had an abundance of love to give and was deeply proud of her family, who will continue to honor her memory by living with the same passion and commitment she exemplified.
A service to celebrate Tammy's life will be held on June 16, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Schmidt Funeral Home, located at 1344 West Grand Parkway South, Katy, Texas 77494. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to The LUNGevity Foundation or The American Cancer Society in Tammy's memory, helping to support causes that were close to her heart.
Tammy Kaye Matchett Henry's radiant spirit and boundless love will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched, as we take comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her beloved Christopher and other cherished family members in eternal peace.
