Tamir Khaleel Hameen

August 16, 1938 — May 13, 2026

August 16, 1938 – May 13, 2026 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Tamir Khaleel Hameen, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left this world on May 13, 2026, in Oklahoma City. Born on August 16, 1938, in Alexandria, Louisiana, Tamir lived a life rich in love, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to those he cherished. Tamir was the cherished son of the late Theodore Roosevelt Tillman and Dorothy Ruth Herbert Tillman. He was predeceased by his parents, his older sister Pearl Elizabeth Tillman, his younger brother Benjamin Julius Armstrong, and his step-son Isaac Whitney. Tamir's legacy continues in the hearts of his surviving family: his devoted wife of 30 years, Marilla Smith, along with his sons Garrick Smith, Dominique Allen, Isaac Whitney, and Erik Williams, and his daughters Patrice Miner, Patricia Godwin, Wendee Lee Curtis, Carla Denise Tillman Ellis, and Diedra Whitney. He was a proud grandfather to 10 grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense joy and pride. Tamir's educational journey led him from Thomas Jefferson High School to Los Angeles Business and Trade, and ultimately to the University of Southern California (USC). His career began in international trade and exports, where he honed his skills and eventually blossomed into a successful entrepreneur. His work took him across the globe, but no matter the distance, his heart was never far from home. A man of deep faith, Tamir embraced the Muslim faith with a fervor that guided his interactions and relationships. He believed that a man's character is reflected in how he lives and treats others, a principle he embodied through his actions and words. Tamir was known for his quick wit, infectious sense of humor, and a smile that could light up any room. He was caring and knowledgeable, a man who never met a stranger and who always made time for those in need. In his leisure time, Tamir found peace and joy in fishing, cooking wonderful meals for his family, watching sports, and immersing himself in the soothing melodies of jazz music. His family fondly recalls, "A father is neither an anchor to hold us back nor a sail to take us there, but a guiding light whose love shows us the way." Tamir was that guiding light, a beacon of love, wisdom, and strength that will forever illuminate their lives. In celebrating Tamir's remarkable life, we remember a man who, through his love and dedication, touched the lives of many. His legacy of kindness and compassion will continue to inspire those who knew him. A memorial service will be held to honor and celebrate Tamir's life. The family invites friends and loved ones to join them in remembering a remarkable man who lived life fully and loved deeply. Details of the service will be announced shortly. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Tamir's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting his generous spirit and commitment to helping others. May Tamir Khaleel Hameen rest in eternal peace, his memory forever cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
