Tais Elder

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Tais Elder, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, who left us peacefully at home on July 25, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Tais was born on February 14, 1971, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to Martha Elder and Shelton Dunston. Her life, though cut short, was one of immense love, joy, and dedication to those she held dear. Tais's smile was a beacon of warmth and kindness, known to light up any room she entered. Her generous spirit and gentle nature touched the hearts of many, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Tais had a deep passion for gardening, finding solace and beauty in nurturing life from the earth. Her garden was a sanctuary, flourishing under her care as a testament to her nurturing personality. She is survived by her loving sisters, Jackie Clark (Michael) of Raleigh, Patricia Becton (Quintis) of Wake Forest, Amy Curtis (Grady) of Youngsville, and Mary Tanner (Marvin) of Franklinton. Tais also leaves behind several cherished nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends who will forever hold her memory in their hearts. She was predeceased by her brother, Millard Bruce Dunston, whom she dearly missed. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Tais’s life at a service to be held on August 12, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Nesbitt Funeral Home, located at 165 Madison Avenue, Elizabeth, NJ. This gathering will be a time to honor her life, share memories, and support one another in our shared loss. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Tais’s memory to the American Cancer Society - Breast Cancer Fund, a cause close to her heart. Through these contributions, we hope to continue her legacy of love and support for others in need. Tais Elder will forever be remembered for her unwavering love, her radiant smile, and her ability to bring joy to those around her. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.
