Sylvia, born on April 28, 1950, in Los Angeles, California, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026, at a hospice facility after courageously battling numerous chronic illnesses. Sylvia was the cherished daughter of Louis Covarrubias Sr. and Matilde Minjares. She was a beacon of love and strength to her family and friends, always prioritizing the needs of others above her own. Her nurturing spirit was a source of comfort and wisdom to many, and her habit of spreading joy and hope through the Daily Bread Booklets for over 30 years was a testament to her unwavering faith and commitment to sharing the gospel. In 1981, Sylvia married the love of her life, Andy Valles, in Montebello, California. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised three wonderful children: Carol, Cynthia, and Andy Jr. Over the course of their 45 years of marriage and 52 years together, Sylvia and Andy's partnership was a testament to enduring love and devotion. Sylvia's legacy continues through her seven cherished grandchildren: Kimberly, Angelina, Brooklyn, Andrea, Anyssa, Chyna, and Neila, who brought her immense joy and pride. Sylvia was a dedicated student at Rio Hondo College in Whittier, California, where she earned a place on the Dean’s List, showcasing her commitment to education and personal growth. Throughout her career, she worked with integrity and dedication as a secretary and retail associate, touching the lives of colleagues and customers alike with her kindness and professionalism. Sylvia's presence will be deeply missed by her siblings, Diane and Anthony, who shared countless memories and moments of laughter and love with her. Her warm personality and open heart made her a pillar in her community and an anchor for her family. A celebration of Sylvia's life will be held on July 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Victory Outreach Tucson City Church, located at 3999 S. Mission Rd., Tucson, AZ 85746.
