Born on June 14, 1937, to Robert and Edith McLaughlin, Sylvia, affectionately known as Sibby, spent a lifetime weaving threads of joy and artistry into the lives of those around her. Sylvia's journey began in the quaint town of Latrobe, where she would eventually graduate from Latrobe High School in 1956. Her life was a tapestry of diverse careers, each reflecting her vibrant personality and unwavering dedication. From her role as a travel agent, which fueled her adventurous spirit, to her secretarial positions and work as a fabric store clerk, Sylvia's career was as varied as it was fulfilling. Her compassionate nature shone brightly during her time with the Red Cross and Laurel Faith in Action, where she dedicated herself to helping others, embodying the spirit of kindness and community service. Artistic expression was at the heart of Sylvia's life. A creative soul, she delighted in sewing and tole painting, crafting beauty with her hands and sharing it generously with the world. Her creations were not only masterpieces in their own right but also reflections of her warm, giving nature and her ability to bring smiles to those around her. Sylvia's warmth was a beacon to her family, and she was deeply loved by her brother, Scott McLaughlin. She cherished her role as an aunt to her six nieces and nephews and found immense joy as she watched her family grow to include twelve great nieces and nephews and three great, great nephews. Though predeceased by her beloved parents, Robert and Edith, and her sister, Marian Morris, Sylvia's legacy of love and laughter lives on in the hearts of her family. Known for her infectious smile and her uncanny ability to lift spirits, Sylvia was a beloved presence in her community. Her life was a testament to the power of joy and creativity, and her memory will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. In accordance with Sylvia's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor her life.
