In Loving Memory of Sylvester Bragg “TC Top Cat” Sylvester Bragg, affectionately known to all as “TC” or “Top Cat,” was a spirited soul whose life journey began on July 16, 1961, in Toledo, Ohio. He graced this world with his vibrant presence, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate to have known him. Sylvester passed away peacefully on August 10, 2026, after a valiant battle with illness. Raised by his cherished grandmother, Mother Ruth, and his beloved sister, Phyllis, Sylvester grew up surrounded by love and strong family values which remained integral throughout his life. His family’s unwavering support was a cornerstone, providing strength and comfort in every phase of his journey. A proud alumnus of Woodward High School, Sylvester was a man of many passions. His love for fishing, cars, and music was equaled only by his penchant for fashion. Known for dressing “fly,” TC had an eye for style and a flair for making every entrance memorable. Music was the soundtrack of his life; his appreciation for rhythm and melody was ever-present, with “I Tried” by the Geto Boys being a particular favorite. Sylvester was a culinary enthusiast, with a special fondness for catfish—a dish he famously prepared every day for a month upon moving into his apartment. This playful anecdote is just one of many that his family and friends will cherish, bringing smiles and laughter as they remember his lively personality. Family gatherings and social events were where Sylvester truly shone. His infectious laughter, boundless energy, and joyful spirit made every occasion memorable. He was the heart of every party, lighting up rooms with his presence and leaving a trail of unforgettable memories. Despite the challenges of his illness, Sylvester's determination to live independently was unwavering. Embracing life on his own terms, he could often be seen navigating city streets in his motorized wheelchair, a testament to his resilience and indomitable spirit. The bond Sylvester shared with his nephew, Pfalus Garmon, was particularly special. Their close relationship was a source of joy and companionship, fondly remembered by all who witnessed it. Sylvester was preceded in death by his parents, Barbara Day and Sylvester Bragg, as well as his sister, Deborah Gulley, and brother, Kenneth Bragg. He leaves behind to honor his memory his siblings, Phyllis Wallace, James Turner (Patsy), and Steve Turner Sr. (Ruth), along with a loving extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends. Though his path was not without its trials, Sylvester embraced life with courage, love, and an unmistakable zest for living. His legacy of laughter, music, and style will continue to inspire those who carry his memory in their hearts. Rest in peace, TC. Your journey was filled with love, laughter, and a fearless spirit. You will be forever loved, forever remembered, and forever our “Top Cat.” A memorial service to celebrate Sylvester's life will be held on August 24, 2026, at 5:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, located at 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, OH 43614. Family hour will precede the service from 4:00 to 5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in honor of Sylvester’s generous spirit.
