It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Syethaba Mchunu, affectionately known as West, who left this world on July 20, 2026. Born on February 5, 2005, in the picturesque land of Zimbabwe, West's life, though brief, was filled with moments that touched the hearts of many. West was a cherished son of the Club family and the beloved partner of Lusanda. He was preceded in death by his dear family members, Snakho and Senamile, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms in the great beyond. A proud alumnus of Phayiphin High School, West was a diligent and dedicated individual, known for his work as a driver of a garbage van. His role, though humble, was a testament to his unwavering work ethic and his commitment to contributing to his community. West was a man who found joy in the simple things; his laughter was infectious and brought light to those around him. He had a gift for finding humor amidst life's challenges, and his ability to make others laugh will be dearly missed. A service to honor West's life will be held on July 20, 2026, at 11:45 PM, at the Phayiphin Sport Ground, located at 123 Main Street. This gathering will be a time for friends and family to come together, share memories, and celebrate the life of a remarkable young man. In a special message from his family, they express their deep loss and the void left by his passing: "Ifa nja vele msebenzi wakho ubungasekho." While West's journey in this world was far too short, his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in West's memory to a charity of your choice, honoring his spirit and the laughter he brought into the lives of others.
