Susie Dong

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Susie, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world on April 27, 2026, at the age of 83. Her departure followed complications during a medical procedure at St. Michael Medical Center in Silverdale, Washington. Born on September 24, 1942, in Glendale, California, Susie was the cherished daughter of the late Otto William and Carol Ann Bobo. Susie was a beacon of light and inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey through life was marked by an unwavering passion for education and a deep commitment to nurturing young minds. She earned her Masters of Arts in Education in 1979 from United States International University (USIU) in San Diego, California, and dedicated her career to serving as an Elementary Reading Specialist. Over the years, she made a significant impact in classrooms across California, Oregon, and Washington, sharing her love for reading and learning with countless children. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Susie was a woman of many talents and interests. Her intelligence and outgoing nature drew people to her, and she found joy in expressing herself through poetry. Nature provided endless inspiration, and she treasured peaceful walks along the beach, where she could reflect and connect with the beauty around her. Susie's appreciation for the arts was evident in her love for attending regional theater performances, where she was often found with a smile, captivated by the stories being told on stage. In 2014, Susie embarked on a new chapter in her life when she married her beloved husband, Bradley Dong. Together, they created a life filled with love and adventure, ultimately retiring to the serene town of Sequim, Washington. Their eleven years of marriage were filled with cherished memories and the joy of shared experiences. Susie's spirit lives on through her surviving family members, who carry her love and wisdom in their hearts. She is survived by her devoted husband, Bradley Dong, of Sequim, Washington; her brother, John Bobo, of Banning, California; her son, Christian Brahe-Pedersen, and granddaughter, Mia Brahe-Pedersen, of Portland, Oregon; and her daughter, Susanna Sharp, of Port Townsend, Washington. A service to honor and celebrate Susie's remarkable life will be held on September 6, 2026, following the regular Sunday service at Olympic Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, located at 1033 N Barr Road, Port Angeles, WA 98362. Friends and family are invited to gather and remember the beautiful soul that was Susie. In lieu of flowers, donations in Susie's memory may be made to the OUUF Little Food Pantry, reflecting her lifelong commitment to helping others and her generous spirit. Susie's memory will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were fortunate enough to share in her vibrant spirit. May her legacy bring comfort to those who loved her and inspire us all to live with the same kindness and passion that she embodied.
