Susie Louise Mason, cherished mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend, departed this world on September 12, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, and laughter. Born on February 19, 1952, in Macon, Georgia, Susie was the beloved daughter of Zeter and Joseph Mason. A proud graduate of Madison High School in 1969, Her career was as varied as her interests, with roles ranging from school bus driver to drag racer, and she dedicated many years to serving as a compassionate home health aide. Susie's personality touched everyone she crossed paths with. She adored music of Betty Wright and Sam Cooke, her stories, and being with family. For over two decades, Susie shared her life with her beloved companion, Gerard Nettles Sr., whose memory she cherished deeply. Susie was predeceased by her cherished parents, Zeter and Joseph Mason, as well as her dear companion Gerard Nettles Sr., and her son Ronnie Scott. She also lovingly remembered her siblings Joseph and Larry Mason, Delores and Deborah Mason, Virginia Martin, her aunt Lizzie Phelps, and her dear nephews Kenny Coley and Jermaine Martin, cousin Elisha Phelps. She is survived by a loving family who will continue to honor her memory: her sister Renee Anderson, brothers Walter, David, and Steven Mason, and her children Jerome (Bobbi) Mason, Varneisha Dixon, Areale (Brian) Nettles, and Gerard Nettles Jr., Susie was the proud grandmother to 13 grandchildren—Ronald, Brianna S., Brandi, Brionna, Jada, Jeremiah, Shanquell (Arthur),Jason, Shamiah, Da'Naja, Ta'Liah, Rhyan, and Dominick—and the cherished great-grandmother to five great-grandchildren—Lamyra, Royal, Drayden, Ezra, and Icelynn. Her special nieces, Shalamar Owens and Fatima Hunter, held a unique place in her heart, as did her close cousins Janelle Mason, and Ronald Phelps. Susie's life was further enriched by her dear friends, Evelyn Wiggins and Sheila Robirtson. A host of other special family members, and friends..... Susie's life was a tapestry of vibrant threads woven together by her infectious laughter, and her unapologetic self. She was a woman who embraced every moment, and her legacy will continue to inspire all who knew her.
