December 15, 1963 — April 5, 2026

With the heaviest of hearts, we announce the passing of Susie Ann Melkonian, whose vibrant spirit left this world far too soon on April 5, 2026. Susie, aged 62, was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend, whose light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew her. Born on December 15, 1963, in the beautiful city of San Francisco, Susie was the cherished daughter of Patricia and George Harrington. She was welcomed into a loving family as a younger sister to Bill and an older sister to Sean, Daniel, and Reed. Susie was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bill, and her first husband, Mike Melkonian. Despite these losses, she remained a pillar of strength and warmth for her family and friends. Susie was educated at McAteer High School, graduating in June 1981, where her love for life and learning began to blossom. After high school, she embarked on an incredible journey, marrying the love of her life, Mike Melkonian, on August 8, 1997, in Reno, Nevada. Together, they built a life brimming with love, laughter, and happiness, raising three wonderful children—Angie, Mike, and Janette. Together, Susie and Mike were not only partners in life but also in business, successfully establishing Sunset Tree Service and Mikey’s Hauling from the ground up, and leaving their mark on the San Francisco community. Following Mike's passing in 2016, Susie found love once more and married Richard Moody in 2018, sharing beautiful years filled with companionship and adventure. Her resilience in the face of loss was truly inspiring, and her ability to love and live fully was a testament to her remarkable character. In her professional life, Susie transitioned from being a business partner to dedicating her later years to case management work, passionately advocating for the homeless community in San Francisco. Her compassion and commitment to helping others knew no bounds, and she touched countless lives with her kindness and generosity. Susie was a woman of many talents and interests. She had an undeniable flair for fashion, often spending her free time thrifting for clothes and transforming them into something new and extraordinary. Her quirky and kooky personality was infectious, making everyone around her feel special and loved. She had a knack for making the ordinary seem extraordinary and a gift for bringing joy and laughter to those around her. Susie leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, survived by her brothers Sean, Daniel, and Reed, her beloved children Angie, Mike, and Janette, and a vast network of family and close friends who will continue to cherish her memory. As we remember Susie, we celebrate a life lived fully, with passion, creativity, and an unwavering dedication to family and community. She was a genuine soul whose presence will be deeply missed, and the world is indeed a quieter place without her vivacious spirit. A memorial service will be held to honor Susie's life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Susie's name to local homeless charities, continuing her mission of compassion and care for those in need. Rest in peace, dear Susie. Your light will forever guide us, and your love will remain in our hearts eternally.
