In Loving Memory
Susann Campbell
January 28, 1947 — May 11, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of Susann (Sue) Campbell on May 11, 2026. She passed peacefully at her home, surrounded by love. Born on January 28, 1947, in the quaint town of Grafton, North Dakota, to Dallas and Genevieve Chapman, Sue was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend. She lived 79 years of a life well-lived. She was as warm, colorful and beautiful as the quilts she crafted with all her love.
Sue was a woman of resilience and grace. During her years of failing health, she was not only extremely courageous and strong, but she also consistently had a positive attitude and made the best of every day. She will be remembered for her tenacious spirit, kind heart and beautiful soul.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Campbell, with whom she shared 34 years of marriage marked by unwavering devotion and shared adventures. They shared a life filled with love and laughter, extending their kindness to all who crossed their path. Sue is also preceded in death by her brothers Robert, Eugene, Darrell, and Roger; her son John Lee, daughter Kathy and grandson Billy, whose memories she carried tenderly in her heart.
Surviving her are her devoted son, Robert, and her sister, Eileen, along with her cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends who were all fortunate to feel her unconditional love. Her family was the center of her world and her greatest treasure. Spending time with her loved ones was truly important to her and brought her immense joy. Sue was an incredible mother and grandmother. Her unwavering love for her family will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
In her early years, Sue worked as a waitress in various restaurants, delighting in the opportunity to meet new people and share stories with the regular patrons who came to adore her fun personality, quick wit and smile. Her journey took a new turn when she married the love of her life, John, on August 28, 1977, in Greeley, Colorado. She embraced the open road, joining him in his trucking career, where together they explored the vast landscapes, visiting every state - a testament to their adventurous spirits and deep companionship. Together, they worked and traveled, creating a lifetime of memories and stories to share.
Sue and John looked forward to winters at their second home in Maricopa, Arizona, where they embraced the desert's beauty and camaraderie. Riding the ATV through the sunlit trails, playing cards, and sharing meals with friends were the highlights of their year, filled with laughter and many fond memories. Sue and John also spent time camping, fishing and traveling, enjoying the simple pleasures, living their best life.
Sue found a strong sense of community and belonging at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Greeley. There, she was not only an active member but also a dear friend among the "church ladies," engaging in gatherings and community ministries that brought joy and purpose.
Many know Sue as a talented and avid quilter. She found peace and enjoyment in her sewing room, spending countless hours creating beautiful quilts, that were more than just thread and fabric, but an expression and labor of love for her family and friends. As a member of a local quilt guild, she formed lasting friendships and shared hours of creativity and fun times with her lady friends.
Susann Campbell’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and a life lived to the fullest. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her story does not end here. It continues in the memories she created and the lives she touched.
As we celebrate Sue's remarkable life, we invite family and friends to join us for a memorial service and celebration of life, where we will honor her legacy with the love and laughter she so generously shared with us all. In honor of Sue's love for tacos, we will be serving a taco bar for lunch.
