It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Susan Wells Allen, who left this world on June 10, 2026, at the age of 73. Susan was born on October 4, 1952, in the serene surroundings of Rockingham County, a place that remained close to her heart throughout her life. She passed away at her home, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family, due to heart complications. Susan was the beloved daughter of the late John Cleveland Wells and Margie Green Smith Wells. She was also preceded in death by her caring stepfather, known to the family simply as Smith. A devoted wife, mother, sister, and aunt, Susan leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will continue to inspire those who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband, William Dean Allen, and her cherished son, Michael Wayne Williams, who resides in Concord. Susan's sister, Linda Wells Williams, and her husband Earl, live in Indiana, along with their son, Van Williams, and his wife Heather, who considered Susan not just an aunt but a guiding light. Though life presented Susan with various paths, she embarked on a journey filled with dedication and service. After graduating from high school, Susan began her career at First National Bank. Her professional journey then led her to Garrett's Mini Mart and eventually to Reidsville Camera Shop. In every role she took on, Susan demonstrated an unwavering commitment and a warm presence that endeared her to colleagues and customers alike. Beyond her professional endeavors, Susan's life was rich with the joys of personal passion and simple pleasures. A devoted fan of Christian music, she found solace and inspiration in singing. Her love for her feline companions was well-known, as was her penchant for watching television and delighting in the thrill of scary horror movies. Susan's heart was as open as her mind; she possessed a remarkable gift for making others feel accepted and welcomed. She was a person who never judged, embracing all with compassion and understanding. In this time of mourning, the family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Ancora Compassionate Care for their unwavering support and kindness throughout Susan's illness. Their dedication provided comfort and peace to Susan and her family during her final days. As we gather to celebrate and honor the life of Susan Wells Allen, we remember her not only for the roles she played but for the love she shared and the light she brought into our lives. Her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. A memorial service to honor Susan's life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a local animal shelter or a charity of your choice in Susan's memory, as a testament to her love for animals and her generous spirit. May Susan's soul find eternal peace, and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
