Born on May 3, 1946, Susan was a beacon of warmth and compassion, whose influence and love extended far beyond her immediate family.
Susan was the beloved daughter of Robert and Mary Jenkins, who predeceased her and welcomed her home with open arms. Susan and Ray were united in matrimony on June 25, 1977, and together they embarked on a life filled with adventure and discovery, traveling extensively before setting roots in Newport in 1991. It was there that they lovingly restored a charming 1860 house in the heart of downtown, which became a gathering place filled with warmth and laughter.
A dedicated and respected professional, Susan retired from the Navy Exchange in Newport as a lead cashier, where she was known not only for her meticulous attention to detail but also for her unwavering kindness and cheerful demeanor. Her colleagues remember her as a pillar of support and a friend to all.
Susan was a multitalented artist, whose creative spirit shone brightly through her exquisite paintings, intricate needlepoint designs, and magnificent stained glass creations. Her artistic endeavors were a testament to her boundless imagination and her ability to see beauty in the world around her.
Above all, Susan was a woman of immense love and kindness, always extending a warm and caring attitude to everyone she met. She also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren, Alex, Kyler, Ethan, and Meghan, who were the light of her life and whom she adored with all her heart.
In keeping with Susan's wishes, a private ceremony will be held to honor her life and legacy. Her family appreciates the love and support of friends and loved ones during this difficult time and kindly requests privacy as they grieve the loss of an extraordinary wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
