Susan J. Ramos

November 1, 1946 — February 20, 2026

Susan J. (Peters) Ramos, 79, formerly of Gloversville, NY, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026, at Glens Falls Hospital. Born in Little Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Margaret Peters. A 1964 graduate of Gloversville High School, she earned a Business Certificate from Fulton-Montgomery Community College and later worked for the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance. She spent the remainder of her career with the Gloversville Enlarged School District, retiring in 2006. Although she resided in Gloversville for most of her life, her heart was always in Hawaii, where she lived for several years. She will be remembered for her delicious family meals, her love of reading, and her lifelong passion for music, which led her to many unforgettable concerts over the years. A devoted animal lover, she volunteered with an animal rescue group and had a special affection for cats. Her compassion for animals was boundless, and her home was always open to furry friends in need. She was all about family and loved nothing more than being surrounded by the people she loved—whether they were just sitting around talking, sharing laughs, or cheering on her beloved Yankees together. Those Simple moments of togetherness were where she was happiest, and they are the memories her family will hold onto most. She was of the Catholic faith. Survivors include her son, Matthew Ramos; her sister, Mary Gancarz and her partner, Dennis Staley; her niece, Kara Gancarz; her cousin, MaryBeth Evers and her husband, Edward; and several cousins. The family is deeply grateful to the staff at St. Johnsville Rehabilitation and Nursing, Sue’s second family for over a decade, for their kindness and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the James A. Brennan Memorial Humane Society, 437 Nine Mile Tree Road, Gloversville, NY 12078, or online at www.pawsforyou.org, continuing Susan’s legacy of love and care for animals. A private graveside service will be held in the spring at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Johnstown. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, NY. Online condolences may be made at www.brbsfuneral.com
