Susan Lynn Clevenger

Our beloved Susan Lynn Clevenger, passed away peacefully at her home on July 29, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 2, 1950, in Akron, Ohio, Susan was a cherished daughter of Joseph and Betty Jane Sternbauer. Susan is survived by her loving husband David, sister Karen Elizabeth, daughter Stacy, and son-in-law Wesley Meyers. Susan was a proud graduate of Highland High School, class of 1968, and went on to study Liberal Arts at Kent State University. Her educational journey, laid the foundation for a successful career of 40 years, in the staffing industry. There she excelled in providing technical professional consultants, to engineering and service firms throughout the DMV. Susan's dedication and hard work earned her industry recognition and numerous awards. She retired from Alex Inc. in 2015 with 25 years of service. As a Senior Business Development Manager, Susan was consistently credited as the top performer. In 1977, Susan married the love of her life, David Allen Clevenger. Their journey began 50 years ago, and through it all, their bond remained unbreakable. In 1980 they welcomed their beloved daughter, Stacy Lynn, and in 2017, their family grew with the addition of a son-in-law, Wes, whom she greatly cherished. It is worth mentioning her great love for all the granddogs through the years. Susan's life was enriched by her involvement in her community and church. When met at a crossroads 30 years ago, she was led to a supportive recovery community where she found healing and made lifelong friendships. She developed a love for baking and was known fondly as "THE CAKE LADY". Susan was always eager to share her baked treats and volunteer her time wherever opportunity presented. Shortly after, a new years resolution to start Jazzercsize, turned into another extended family that both her and Dave cherished. Additionally, her evenings were often spent with Dave, enjoying action and drama films. Susan found her beloved church she was seeking. She was baptized in March 2021, professing her faith at Grace Covenant Church Sterling, where she became a devoted member, and faithfully served. Susan brought joy and light wherever she went, with her dancing, singing, and infectious laugh often filling the room. Her fun-loving energy and spirit touched all who knew her. Susan's legacy is one of love, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to those around her. Her family, friends, and community are left with memories of a remarkable woman whose life was a testament to grace and kindness. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday August 8, 2026 at 1pm, followed by a time of fellowship at: Grace Covenant Church 46100 Woodshire Dr. Sterling, VA 20166 While Susan's physical presence will be deeply missed, her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift all who had the privilege of knowing her.
