Susan Grube
April 2, 1943 — April 20, 2026
With profound sadness yet with hearts full of gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Susan Grube on April 20, 2026. Born on April 2, 1943, in the heart of Kansas City, MO, Susan was a beacon of love, laughter, and unwavering positivity throughout her 83 years.
Susan was the cherished daughter of the late Bruce and Joan Law, whose love and values she carried forward in every aspect of her life. On a warm summer day, she married the love of her life, Tom Grube, and together they built a beautiful family and a partnership that spanned an incredible 61 years. Their love was a testament to the enduring power of companionship, mutual respect, and shared dreams.
Susan's nurturing spirit found a perfect outlet in her career as an elementary school teacher in Springfield and Grandview, Missouri. She inspired countless young minds and left an indelible mark on the lives of her students, who remember her not just for her teaching but for the kindness and patience she showed every day.
A woman of simple joys, Susan loved square dancing and line dancing, her laughter echoing through the halls as her feet found rhythm in the company of friends. Weekends were often spent at the family farm, where she delighted in hosting cookouts filled with fishing and s’mores. Her family fondly recalls her joy in riding the Ferris wheel, always eager to share the experience with them. Susan had an affinity for crosswords, finding peace in the quiet challenge they offered, and had a special fondness for ladybugs, which she believed were a symbol of luck.
Her positivity was contagious, often summed up in her favorite assurance, “it will all work out,” a reminder that most often it did. Susan also had a sweet tooth for peeps, a treat that brought her simple joy.
Susan's legacy lives on in her beloved family: her devoted husband, Tom; her loving son, John Grube; her cherished daughter, Lisa Eberhardy, and son-in-law, Richard. She was the treasured grandmother of six: Emily, Erica, Cody, Jordan, Colton, and Camryn, and a doting great-grandmother to seven great-grandchildren, who will carry forward her spirit of kindness and love.
A service to honor Susan's life will be held on April 24, 2026, at 10:30 AM at the John Knox Village Chapel, located at 400 NW Murray Rd., Lee’s Summit, MO 64081. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to KyMel, Inc., for the benefit of Camp Hope, a cause dear to Susan’s heart.
As we say goodbye to Susan, we celebrate the life of a remarkable woman who taught us all the true meaning of grace, love, and resilience. Her memory will forever be a blessing and an inspiration to those who knew and loved her.
