Susan E. Blevins, a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on July 16, 2026, after a courageous battle with an unforgiving illness. Born on August 24, 1954, in Fairfax, Virginia, Susan was a beacon of light and love in the lives of all who knew her. Susan was the cherished daughter of Robert and Mary LaRose, who predeceased her, along with her loving husband, Melvin Riddle, and an unnamed baby daughter. She is survived by her children, Robert Blevins and Amanda Crowe, her devoted brother Richard LaRose, her five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, who will continue to honor her legacy. A proud alumna of Fairfax High School, Susan pursued her passion for caring for others by obtaining a nursing degree from East Tennessee State University. Her career began at Colonial Hills Nursing Home, where her compassion and dedication touched countless lives. Later, she transitioned to Bell Helicopters, where she worked until her well-earned retirement. Susan was more than her professional achievements; she was an avid gardener, a talented artist, and a published poet. Her creativity and zest for life were evident in everything she did. Known for her quick wit, she never shied away from advocating for American rights, courageously standing up for what she believed in. Her family will forever remember her as a source of strength and wisdom, always ready with a warm smile or a comforting word. Her legacy of love and laughter will continue to inspire those she leaves behind. The family extends their deepest gratitude to all who provided support and steadfast help during Susan's illness. Their kindness and compassion brought comfort during this difficult time. A service to celebrate Susan's remarkable life will be held on July 24, 2026, at 2:30 PM at St. Mary's Church, located at 2312 E. Lakeview Dr. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring her memory.
