December 7, 1948 — June 1, 2026

It is with heavy hearts yet profound gratitude for the life she shared with us that we announce the peaceful passing of Susan Cowley on June 1, 2026, at the age of 77. Susan was born on December 7, 1948, in Sacramento, California, to Gordon and Verland Sewell. She gracefully fought a long battle with Parkinson's disease before leaving us at a nurturing facility, surrounded by love and care. Susan’s life was a testament to kindness, resilience, and a steadfast devotion to family. She was the beloved wife of Michael Cowley, her partner for 58 years. Together, they built a life rich with laughter and warmth, marrying on November 2, 1968, in Tucson, Arizona. Their union was blessed with two cherished sons, Michael Gordon and Jeffrey Allen, who, along with Jeffrey’s wife Dawn, gifted Susan with four adored grandchildren and one precious great-granddaughter, the lights of her life. A proud graduate of Central Valley High School, class of 1967, Susan earned a scholarship in home economics—an early reflection of her talent and dedication. Her career as a school bus driver was marked by excellence and an admirable commitment to safety. She served the Clear Creek School District with distinction, triumphing in local and regional Roadeo competitions before showcasing her prowess at the Texas state level. Her career later included work with the Wichita Falls ISD, where she was honored with a safe driver award. Susan's life was beautifully seasoned with passions that brought joy to her and those around her. An avid lover of sewing, quilting, and embroidery, she created pieces that were not just art but expressions of love. Her collection of cow figurines and milk glass was a treasure trove that reflected her unique spirit and zest for life. She is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Michael, her sons Michael Gordon and Jeffrey Allen, her daughter-in-law Dawn, her four grandchildren, and her great-granddaughter. Susan's memory will also be cherished by her three sisters, Phyllis, Joan, and Margaret, her brother Phillip, and her best friend, Janet Goodman. Susan was predeceased by her grandparents and parents, whose memories she held dear. Susan’s family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at United Regional Hospital, Midwestern Healthcare Center, and Hospice of Wichita Falls for their dedicated care during her final days. In accordance with Susan’s wishes, a private ceremony will be held to honor her life. While we mourn her loss, we celebrate the indelible impact she made on our lives and the enduring legacy of love she leaves behind. May Susan Cowley find eternal peace and rest, forever cherished in our hearts.
