It is with profound sadness and yet immense gratitude for a life beautifully lived that we announce the passing of Sue Otterman, who departed this world on July 9, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on February 9, 1948, in the heart of Gary, Indiana, Sue was a beacon of love and warmth to all who had the privilege of knowing her. A devoted wife, Sue shared the last 15 years of her life with her beloved husband George. Their love story was one of destiny, as they reunited after many years apart, rekindling the romance of their high school days. Their bond was one of true love, a testament to the enduring power of connection and companionship. Sue was the cherished mother of three daughters: Leslie, Tracy, and Kelly, who were the light of her life. Her legacy extends through her five grandchildren—Brandon, Amber, Kole, Dallis, and Trystan—and two great-grandchildren, Shawn and Jeremy, affectionately known as Bubba. Sue’s family was her greatest pride, and her love for them was as boundless as it was unconditional. A woman of deep faith, Sue was an active and dedicated member of the United Methodist Church. Her melodious voice graced the church choir, and she was a steadfast presence on the church board. For over 20 years, Sue volunteered at the food ministry, touching countless lives with her generosity and compassion. Sue's creativity knew no bounds. An accomplished painter, her artwork captured the beauty she saw in the world. She found joy in gathering with her close-knit group of lady friends for spirited games of bonko, where her quick wit and playful humor shone brightly. Sue’s adventurous spirit led her to travel far and wide, embracing the wonders of the world with enthusiasm and curiosity. To know Sue was to be enveloped in warmth and acceptance. She welcomed everyone with open arms, never judging, always embracing. Her humor and quick comebacks were legendary, bringing laughter and light to all around her. In accordance with her wishes, a private ceremony will be held to honor Sue’s life. Her family extends their heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported them during this difficult time. Your kindness and love have been a source of comfort and strength, and you will forever hold a place in their hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations be made in Sue's memory to the United Methodist Church Food Ministry, an organization close to her heart. Sue Otterman leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering kindness. Her spirit will continue to inspire and guide those she touched throughout her remarkable life.
