It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Stevie McNeil, a beloved son, brother, and friend, who departed this world on April 19, 2026, at the age of 59. Born on July 23, 1966, in Greensboro, North Carolina, Stevie's life was a testament to perseverance, kindness, and dedication.
Stevie was the cherished son of Earlene McNeil Cook and Benson Bridges, who provided him with a foundation of love and values that he carried throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Kenny McNeil, Harry McNeil, Sharon McNeil Roach, Brenda McNeil Parson, and Fred McNeil. Despite these profound losses, Stevie's spirit remained resilient and enduring, a testament to his strength and the love he held for his surviving siblings, Marcia McNeil, David McNeil, and Nathan McNeil. His family was his anchor, and he theirs, offering unwavering support and joy in the simplest of moments.
From an early age, Stevie exhibited an entrepreneurial spirit, which he harnessed to establish and run his own scrap metal business. His work was more than just a career; it was a calling that allowed him to contribute to his community and provide for those he loved. Alongside his business, Stevie found joy and fulfillment in the culinary arts, working as a cook and sharing his passion for food with all who knew him. His meals were legendary gatherings, bringing friends and family together with warmth and laughter.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Stevie found joy in exploring the world, embracing new experiences with an open heart. His love for travel enriched his life, offering him new perspectives and countless stories that he shared with those around him. Yet, it was life's simple pleasures that truly defined Stevie's essence—enjoying a quiet evening with family, cooking a meal to share, or simply basking in the company of good friends.
Stevie's legacy is one of love, resilience, and a profound appreciation for life. He leaves behind a community forever touched by his kindness, a family strengthened by his unwavering support, and a world made brighter by his presence. His laughter, wisdom, and spirit will remain in the hearts of those who knew him, offering comfort and inspiration in the days to come.
As we say goodbye to Stevie, we remember a life well-lived and a man well-loved. His journey may have ended, but his spirit will endure in the memories we share and the love he gave so freely.
A celebration of Stevie’s life will take place at a later date, where friends and family will gather to honor his memory and the indelible mark he left on our hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in Stevie’s name, to continue his legacy of giving and community support.
Rest in peace, dear Stevie. You are deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
