In loving memory of Steven R. Schwartz, who left this world peacefully at home on August 8, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on May 24, 1955, in the vibrant city of Chicago, Illinois, Steve was the cherished son of Richard and Betty A. (Braun) Schwartz. Steve's early years were filled with adventure and learning in Orfordville, Wisconsin, where he graduated in the class of 1973 from Park View High School. His passion for the great outdoors led him to pursue studies in Forestry at the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point. This love of nature became the foundation of his life's work. For over 42 years, Steve dedicated himself to his craft as a self-employed logger, founding Schwartz Forest Products. His entrepreneurial spirit extended beyond traditional logging, as he also operated a hobby sawmill and shared his love of wood with customers through online sales. On July 2, 1983, Steve married the love of his life, Mary A. Warren, embarking on a journey of love and partnership that spanned 43 beautiful years. Together, they raised a son, Taft, who carries forward his father's legacy and strength. Steve's life was woven with the threads of family, friendship, and heartfelt connections. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary, their son, Taft, and his dear sister Karen and her husband Joel Leonard, along with their daughter Katya and granddaughter Anya. His lifelong friend Bruce Mills and his wife Amy, along with their children and extended families, were a constant source of joy and companionship. Steve also leaves behind his brother-in-laws John and Jean Warren, and Geo Warren and Mary Gibson, along with their children. Not to be forgotten is his beloved dog, Aklea, who was a loyal companion. and his hunting friends A man of deep passions, Steve was an avid fisherman and deer hunter. In his later years, he found joy in the annual ritual of making maple syrup on land that had been part of his family for 72 years. Known for his characteristic beard since 1972, Steve's smile and witty humor were as memorable as the gentle soul he possessed. Always ready with a helping hand, his kindness touched everyone who knew him. Steve was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Betty Schwartz, and his in-laws, Arthur and Adeline Warren. The love and values they instilled in him were evident in every facet of his life. A service to celebrate Steve's life will be held on September 12, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Riverview Senior Community Center, located at 606 W Madison St, Durand, WI 54736. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor a life well-lived. The Schwartz family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the healthcare providers who showed immense love and care for Steve over the past nine months. Steve R. Schwartz's legacy is one of love, laughter, and an enduring connection to the natural world. His spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who were privileged to know him.
