Steven Miles Sr

October 7, 1959 — May 29, 2026

Steven Miles Sr., a loving husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, and esteemed friend, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026, surrounded by the family he held so dear. Born on October 7, 1959, in Washington D.C., Steven was a beacon of strength and laughter whose presence touched the lives of all who knew him. Steven was the beloved son of Herman Miles Sr. and Bertha Dorcas, both of whom imparted the values of faith, resilience, and love that would guide him throughout his life. He graduated from Potomac High School in 1978, marking the beginning of a journey characterized by dedication and service. Following his graduation, Steven answered the call to serve his country, joining the United States Navy. His years of service not only instilled in him a sense of duty and honor but also a profound appreciation for the bonds of camaraderie and friendship, exemplified by his lifelong friend Barkley. On October 27, 1990, Steven married the love of his life, Sheila Miles. Together for 36 beautiful years, they built a home filled with laughter, music, and warmth. Their partnership was a testament to enduring love and mutual respect, and their legacy lives on in their children: Stephanie Miles, Sheryl Miles, Shannon Jeko, and Stacy Miles. Steven was a man of enduring faith and a lover of life's simple pleasures. He found joy in the timeless melodies of old-school music and the captivating stories of classic films. These interests were a reflection of his character—rooted in tradition, yet filled with a vibrant energy that kept those around him uplifted and entertained. Known for his sharp sense of humor and protective nature, Steven's greatest joy came from his family. As a father and grandfather, he was a guiding light to his children and an adored "Pap-pap" to his six grandchildren: Maurice, Jeremiah, Makai, London, Stevie 3rd, and Xeina. His legacy of love and laughter will continue to inspire them and all who knew him. Steven was predeceased by his son, Steven Miles Jr., and his sister, Sharon Miles, whose memories he cherished deeply. His passing leaves a void in the lives of his family and friends, yet his spirit will forever remain a source of comfort and strength. In honor of Steven's life, a private ceremony will be held to celebrate his journey and the indelible mark he left on the hearts of his loved ones. The family kindly requests that donations in Steven’s memory be made to an organization of your choice, reflecting his spirit of giving and kindness. May we all carry forward Steven Miles Sr.'s legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering faith as we remember a life well-lived and a soul deeply cherished.
