It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Steven M. Bourget, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, who departed this world peacefully on June 1, 2026. Born in the charming town of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, on October 11, 1957, Steven's life was a tapestry of love, service, and kindness that touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Steven was the cherished son of the late Clayton and Lucille Bourget and grew up surrounded by a large, loving family. He graduated from Stanley-Boyd High School in 1975, a milestone that marked the beginning of a life dedicated to service and family. Shortly after, he embarked on a distinguished 20-year career in the United States Army, serving as a Sergeant First Class from 1975 to 1995. During his time in the Army, Steven was a Fuel and Electric Repairman and a heavy maintenance mechanic, known for his expertise in training and instructing on both wheel and track vehicles and generators. His dedication to his country was demonstrated during his service in Kuwait from 1990 to 1992, where he was a key member of a maintenance support team.
In 1988, while stationed in Fulda, Germany, Steven married the love of his life, Eva Marie, on March 4. Their union was a testament to enduring love, filled with joy, laughter, and mutual respect. Together, they built a beautiful family, blessed with two sons, Russell and Christian (Sarah), who were the pride and joy of Steven's life. He also leaves behind a legacy through his six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who will forever hold dear the memory of their grandfather's warm smile and gentle humor.
After retiring from the Army, Steven devoted his skills and talents to Student Transit from 1996 to 2020, where he was admired and respected by colleagues and students alike. His quick, warm smile and ready jokes were trademarks of his personality, bringing light and laughter to those around him. Steven had an extraordinary gift for making everyone feel welcomed and valued, a testament to his boundless kindness and generous spirit.
Steven is survived by his beloved wife, Eva Marie, his sons, Russell and Christian (Sarah), and his siblings, Terry, Kathleen, Patricia, Linda, Gail, Rodger, Joyce, Lolly, Marsha, Jeff, Joleen, Kevin, and Roxanne. His family, along with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, will forever cherish the profound impact he had on their lives. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Lucille, and his brothers, Clayton, Dennis, and Scott, with whom he is now reunited.
As we gather to celebrate Steven's life, let us remember the legacy of love, humor, and service he leaves behind. His life was a testament to the power of a warm heart and a generous spirit, and his memory will continue to inspire us all.
A memorial service will be held to honor Steven's life and contributions. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity close to Steven's heart, reflecting his lifelong commitment to giving and serving others.
Steven M. Bourget will be dearly missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in peace, knowing his life was a beacon of light for so many.
