It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Steven Lloyd Conrad, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, who left this world on April 17, 2026, at Bryon East Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska, due to heart complications. Born on June 27, 1962, in Leigh, Nebraska, Steven was a man whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Steven was the cherished son of Harold Lloyd and Marion Alice Balderson Conrad, who predeceased him. His gentle spirit and infectious laugh were a testament to the loving upbringing he received from them. He was also predeceased by his sister, Janice Fuhr, and his grandparents, Max and Marie Conrad, and Benjamin and Ida Balderson, all of whom he held dear in his heart.
Steven's journey began in the small, close-knit community of Leigh, where he graduated from Leigh Community School in the late 1970s. He furthered his education at the Lincoln School of Commerce, equipping himself with the skills that would serve him in various occupations throughout his life in Lincoln, Nebraska. Though he worked in several roles, it was his dedication and work ethic that remained consistent and admirable.
Beyond his professional life, Steven's passions painted a vivid picture of a life well-lived. An avid fisherman, he spent countless hours by the water, participating in many fishing tournaments and sharing his love for the sport with friends and family. His culinary talents were equally renowned, and his barbecues became legendary gatherings, where laughter and the aroma of his expertly cooked meals filled the air.
Steven's life was a tapestry woven with love and laughter, much of which he shared with his surviving sister, June Borchers, and her husband Gayle of Columbus, Nebraska, and his brother-in-law Larry Fuhr of Leigh. His legacy lives on in his nephew, David Fuhr and wife Tonya, and his nieces, Julie Neemeyer and husband Drew Kloppel of Kansas City, MO, and Jennifer Hall and husband Scott of Nazareth, PA, along with numerous grand nieces and nephews. His nieces and nephews will forever cherish the fond memories of their uncle's unconditional love and support.
Those who knew Steven will remember him for his remarkable ability to bring joy to any room with his infectious laugh and unwavering kindness. His presence was a beacon of positivity and compassion, traits that left an indelible mark on all who encountered him.
As the family arranges for services to be held in Leigh, Nebraska, they invite all who knew Steven to join them in celebrating a life so beautifully lived. Steven's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the simple joys of life, a testament to a man who gave so much to those around him.
