In Loving Memory of Steven Lee Baker It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Steven Lee Baker, who departed this world on September 2, 2026. Born on December 29, 1966, in Durham, North Carolina, Steve was a cherished son to Douglas Baker and Brenda Chisenhall. Throughout his life, Steve embodied the virtues of kindness, faithfulness, and honesty, leaving behind a legacy of love and integrity that will be remembered by all who knew him. Steve was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Norma Jean Baker, with whom he shared 28 beautiful years of marriage. Their journey together, which began on April 25, 1998, was filled with love, laughter, and an enduring friendship that was truly exceptional. Steve was not only a loving partner but also a best friend for eternity to Norma Jean. A man of great dedication and skill, Steve worked as a State licensed Water Treatment Specialist for 25 years, diligently treating drinking water for The Town of Hillsborough. He later retired from the City of Durham Water Treatment after five years of commendable service. In addition to his contributions to water treatment, Steve was a Licensed Master Plumbing Contractor for 40 years, respected for his expertise and commitment to his craft. Steve was a proud member of the First Love Community Church, where he was known for his unwavering faith and his readiness to offer a helping hand to those in need. Friends and family remember him as an upstanding gentleman, respected and loved for his honorable character and generous spirit. Preceded in death by his dear family members, including Norma Jean Baker, Chastity Dillard, Regan Dillard, Aubreigh Dillard, Laila Atkins, Tylin Dillard, two sisters, one brother, two nephews, and one niece, Steve is survived by his wife, Norma Jean, who will forever cherish the wonderful memories they created together. A celebration of Steven's life will be held on September 13, 2026, at First Love Community Church, located at 512 US Highway 70, Hillsborough, NC 27278. Steve's family kindly requests that donations in his memory be made to a charity of your choice. Steven Lee Baker touched the lives of many with his warmth and generosity. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
