November 2, 1946 — April 17, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Steven Francis Jones, who departed this life on April 17, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on November 2, 1946, in Horton, Kansas, Steven was a beloved husband, a cherished grandfather, and a respected figure in his community. Steven was the son of the late Dale Jones and Betty Cleek, and he grew up in an environment that instilled in him the values of hard work, integrity, and humility. He graduated from Atchison High School, where he laid the foundation for a life characterized by dedication and service. At a young age, Steven answered the call of duty and served his country with pride as a Seabee in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1964. His time in the Navy was marked by an unwavering commitment to his comrades and a deep love for his nation. His service instilled in him a lifelong sense of discipline and responsibility. After his military service, Steven embarked on a successful career as the owner of Panther Products and Liquid Asphalt Systems. His work was not just a means of livelihood but a testament to his entrepreneurial spirit and keen business acumen. He led his companies with integrity and was admired by colleagues and employees alike for his fairness and vision. In his personal life, Steven was a man of few words, but when he spoke, his thoughts were insightful and meaningful. He had a knack for cutting through the noise and getting to the heart of a matter, a quality that endeared him to those who knew him well. Steven's greatest joy came from his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Kathryn Jones, and a loving grandfather to his four grandchildren, who were the light of his life. He was predeceased by his parents, Dale Jones and Betty Cleek, but his legacy continues through his loved ones who carry forward his values and love. Outside of his commitments, Steven found solace and joy in boating, a hobby that allowed him to connect with nature and find peace on the open water. It was during these moments that he found clarity and contentment, surrounded by the beauty of the natural world. In accordance with his wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Steven's life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Steven's memory to St. Jude's Children's Fund, an organization that reflects his compassionate and giving spirit. Steven Francis Jones leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and integrity. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will continue to guide and inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and lovingly cherished.
