Steven Deon Christiansen

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Steven Deon Christiansen, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Steven left this world on April 6, 2026, at the age of 61, after a courageous battle with pneumonia that led to cardiac arrest. He spent his final days in the compassionate care of the ICU team at St. Mary's Hospital, Jefferson City, Missouri, and for this, the family extends their heartfelt gratitude. Born on October 6, 1964, in the small town of Abilene, Kansas, Steven was the cherished son of Deon and Sherrill (Hendrickson) Christiansen. He grew up enveloped in the warmth of family, alongside his siblings, and carried the values of kindness, integrity, and generosity throughout his life. He was predeceased by his loving mother, Sherrill, his infant sister Shelley, and his brother Scott, who now welcome him to his eternal rest. Steven's life was a tapestry woven with love, dedication, and adventure. He shared eight wonderful years with his devoted wife, Connie (Huff-Moore) Christiansen, whom he married on September 1, 2018. Together, they built a home filled with love, laughter, and music, as Steven often played the piano and organ while Connie sang along—a testament to their harmonious life together. Steven was a proud father to his daughters, Savannah (Christiansen) Gomez and Sherry Christiansen. He delighted in their every accomplishment and found immense joy as a grandfather to his three treasured grandchildren, Asher, Amy, and Eli. His sons-in-law, Carlos Gomez and Daniel Adams, were embraced as sons, and Steven's legacy of warmth and hospitality extended to all who knew him. A graduate from high school in Oklahoma, Steven pursued his passion for helping others by studying to become a Registered Nurse. However, his love for the land led him to a fulfilling career as a cattle rancher, where he spent many years working diligently under the open skies. His hands were never idle, and his skill in fixing anything that needed repair was admired by all. Steven's life was marked by service and fellowship. An Eagle Scout, he carried the principles of scouting throughout his life, embodying trustworthiness, kindness, and bravery. His faith was a cornerstone, and he was a dedicated member of the Lutheran church community, where he found solace and strength. An enthusiast of the great outdoors, Steven found peace in the simple pleasures of camping, hunting, fishing, and gardening. His yard was his pride, a reflection of his meticulous nature and love for the earth. Yet, it was his ability to connect with others that truly defined him. Steven never met a stranger, and his friendly, outgoing personality was a beacon of warmth in the lives of many. His talent for barbecuing was legendary, and he often shared meals with neighbors and friends, creating bonds that would last a lifetime. In honor of Steven's giving spirit, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, continuing his legacy of kindness and care for future generations. A service celebrating Steven's life will be held on April 18, 2026, at Christ The King Lutheran Church, where family and friends will gather to honor the remarkable life he led. As we say goodbye, we hold onto the memories and the indelible mark Steven left on our hearts—a reminder of a life truly well-lived. Rest in peace, dear Steven. Your love, laughter, and music will echo in our hearts forever.
