It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Steven C. Tucker, who left this world peacefully on March 8, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on March 24, 1954, in Gary, Indiana, Steve was a beacon of warmth, charisma, and strength to all who knew him. He passed away at the hospital in the comforting presence of his devoted wife, Theresa, and his cherished children and grandchildren. Steve was the cherished son of Claybo Tucker and Esther Mae Redfield/Phelps. His journey through life was marked by deep love, unwavering loyalty, and a steadfast commitment to his family. He is preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Tommie Lee Redfield; his father, Claybon Tucker; his mother, Esther Mae Redfield/Phelps; his sisters, Verlinda Tucket/Fortney and Claudette Phelps; and his son, Steven C. Tucker Jr. Steve's legacy is lovingly carried forward by his wife, Theresa Tucker of Greenwood, Indiana, with whom he shared a beautiful life and journey, beginning as high school sweethearts in Gary, Indiana. Together, they built a family filled with love and laughter, raising six wonderful children: Kiresa Walker (Michael), Brionna Tucker (Eric), Tiana Tucker, Jocelyn Tucker, Shaina Tucker, and Nicole Tucker. His siblings—brother Ronnie L. Tucker (fiancée Claire) of Gary, Indiana, brother Darrie N. and Veronica Phelps of Tucson, Arizona, sister Valorie and John Broxton of Nashville, Tennessee, and sister Kimberly (fiancée Maurice) of Merrillville, Indiana—along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends, will continue to celebrate his life and cherish the memories they shared. A proud graduate of Gary Roosevelt High School, Class of 1972, Steve briefly worked at the United States Steel Corporation in Gary before dedicating over two decades to the construction industry, where he made lasting contributions and retired with honor. Steve was a fierce defender of his family, always standing as a pillar of strength for his brothers, sisters, wife, and children. His charismatic personality and infectious smile lit up every room he entered, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. His presence will be deeply missed, yet his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us. The Tucker family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Indiana Care Funeral Home of Greenwood, Indiana, for their unwavering dedication and support during this season of grief. As we gather to celebrate Steve's life, let us remember the love and joy he brought into our lives and honor his memory by living with kindness, compassion, and unwavering dedication to one another, just as he did. May Steve rest in eternal peace, forever in our hearts.
