Steven A. Hill

August 8, 1960 — May 14, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Steven A. Hill, a cherished father, devoted brother, and esteemed community servant. Steven departed this world peacefully on May 14, 2026, at Health Central Orlando after a valiant battle. Born on August 8, 1960, in the vibrant city of Orlando, Florida, Steven's life was a testament to unwavering dedication, love, and service. Steven was the beloved son of the late Levin Chaney of Birmingham, Alabama, and Gladys R. Hill of Valdosta, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his dear sisters, Renee Hill-Smith and Julia M. Hill. Despite these losses, Steven's life was filled with the love and companionship of his surviving family, including his sons Allen Smith, Eric Smith, and Mathius Hill; his daughter Priscilla Hill; his sister Sandra M. Hill; his brothers Stanley I. Robinson, and Kenneth A. Hill. Steven's heart was warmed by the love of his two surviving ex-spouses, Jennifer Smith and Melinda Simon. Together, they created a legacy of unity and support that will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him. Steven's legacy is further enriched by his 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, who will carry forward his enduring spirit and cherished memories. Steven's journey of education began at Evans High School, where he laid the foundation for a lifetime of learning and achievement. He pursued his passion for justice and community safety by studying Law Enforcement at Valencia College where he completed the Law Enforcement Academy, which led into a career that he was extremely proud of. From an Officer with the Winter Garden Police Department to a Lieutenant with the Eatonville Police Department. After opening and operating a successful Security Agency and Training Facility, he later returned to school at Florida Metropolitan University, ultimately earning his Master’s degree in Criminal Justice. With this solid educational background and lengthy law enforcement career, Steven then embarked on mission and campaign to run for the position of Orange County Sheriff where he wouldn’t undoubtedly further serve his community with integrity and compassion, leaving a lasting impact on the community he held so dear. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Steven's life was rich with personal passions and interests. He was an avid fisherman, often finding solace and joy on tranquil waters, casting lines with the same patience and perseverance that defined his character. His love for martial arts was not only a testament to his physical discipline but also a reflection of his inner strength and resilience. As we bid farewell to Steven, we celebrate a life well-lived and a spirit that touched the hearts of many. His memory will forever be cherished by his extensive family, including a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, and by all who were fortunate enough to know him. Steven A. Hill's life was a testament to the power of dedication, love, and community, and his legacy will continue to shine brightly in our hearts. A celebration of Steven's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember the incredible impact he had on all of us. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Steven's memory, perpetuating his lifelong commitment to helping others.

A Life Well Lived

A life well lived, a story to tell, Full of memories, both good and swell, Where love and laughter linger on, And joy and happiness are never gone. A life well-lived, with purpose and meaning, Where hard work and perseverance are beaming. Where dreams are chased and goals are met, And every challenge is never a threat. A life well-lived, with family and friends, Where every relationship never ends, With moments shared and bonds so strong, And every journey taken with a song. A life well-lived is not about wealth, Nor fame and fortune, or material health, But it's all about the love we give, And the legacy we leave, as long as we live. So let's live a life that's worth remembering, With deeds that inspire, and hearts that are tendering. And when we're gone, let words be said, 'He lived a life well, and he's finally been laid to rest.'

Favorite Song….

I believe I can fly, I believe I can touch the sky. I think about it every night and day. Spread my wings and fly away. I believe I can soar. I see me running through that open door.
