In Loving Memory of Steve Kabrel
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Steve Kabrel, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, who left this world on May 13, 2026. Born on December 23, 1958, in the sunny city of San Diego, California, Steve lived a life filled with adventure, love, and profound dedication to his family and country.
Steve was the cherished son of Robert and Margaret Kabrel, who instilled in him the values of integrity, kindness, and resilience. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, and his son, and we find comfort in knowing they are now joyfully reunited.
A proud veteran, Steve served in the United States Air Force, where he dedicated years of his life to protecting the freedoms we hold dear. His time in the service was a testament to his unwavering sense of duty and patriotism, qualities that he carried with him throughout his life.
Steve pursued higher education, taking some college courses, but it was life's experiences and his insatiable curiosity that truly educated him. His love for the outdoors often found him exploring new trails and immersing himself in the beauty of nature. Whether it was a thrilling Nascar race, a soulful melody, or a spirited sports match, Steve's interests were as varied as they were profound, each bringing joy and excitement into his life.
Traveling was one of Steve's greatest passions. He found joy in discovering new places, meeting new people, and embracing cultures different from his own. His journeys were filled with stories, laughter, and memories that he cherished deeply and shared often with those around him.
Steve's legacy lives on through his loving family: his devoted partner, Sandy; his children, Tonda Stewart, Eric Kabrel, Patricia Kabrel, and Sunny Hayden; his brother, Robert Kabrel; his four grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his later years; and his five great-grandchildren, whose futures he looked forward to with hope and love.
As a family, we are deeply grateful for the time we had with Steve. He was a pillar of strength, a fountain of wisdom, and a source of unconditional love. We take solace in knowing that he is at peace, free from pain, and soaring with the angels. His spirit lives on in our hearts, and his memory will forever be a guiding light in our lives.
In honoring Steve's wishes, a private family service will be held to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Steve's name, continuing his legacy of kindness and generosity.
Rest in peace, dear Steve. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
