He carried a quiet strength, a warm spirit, and a heart that embraced everyone he met. His journey through life was marked by love, resilience, and unwavering devotion to his family. Steve was predeceased by his cherished mother, Clara, his beloved daughter Ann, and his dear siblings, brother Billy and sister Mattie. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories in the hearts of his surviving family: his devoted daughters, Marie Simmons and Tiffany Thomas-Simmons; his loving brothers, Leon Thomas and Bennie Earl Rogers; and his adoring sisters, Daisy Turner, Velda Anderson, Minnie Echols (Cuney), and Beverly Rice. A man of simple joys, Steve found beauty in everyday moments, laughter in family gatherings, and peace in the love he shared with those closest to him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him, as his life was a beacon of kindness and understanding. In honoring Steve's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held. The family appreciates the support and love from friends and extended family during this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Steve’s memory to a charity of your choice, continuing his spirit of generosity and care for others.
