Steve A Ridge

March 11, 1950 — October 24, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Steve A. Ridge on October 24, 2026, in the comforting embrace of his beloved family. Born on March 11, 1950, in High Point, North Carolina, Steve’s journey through life was a testament to love, service, and dedication. Steve was the cherished son of the late Wallace and Lucille Ridge. He carried the values instilled by his parents throughout his life, values that he later passed on to his own family. His commitment to service was evident in his esteemed military career with the U.S. Army from June 1971 to July 1975, where he served his country with honor and pride. A respected figure in his community, Steve dedicated 26 years to the NC State Highway Patrol, serving from 1974 until his retirement in 2000. His unwavering commitment to safety and justice left a lasting impact on his colleagues and the countless individuals he served. Steve shared a beautiful life with his devoted wife, Sandy Ridge. Together, they nurtured a loving family, raising five wonderful children: Brian Ridge, Ashlee (Henry) Groulx, Jason Calkins, Kevin (Susie) Calkins, and Heather Calkins. Steve’s legacy of kindness, strength, and integrity continues to live on in his seven grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his siblings, Elizabeth Annie (Paul) Evans, Doug (Helen) Ridge, David Ridge, and Cindy (the late Steve) Sink, who remember him as a guiding light and treasured brother. Steve’s warmth and compassion touched all who knew him, and his absence will be profoundly felt. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Via Hospice staff for their compassionate support during this difficult time. In memory of Steve’s generous spirit, the family suggests donations to the Via Hospice or Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation in lieu of flowers. A service to celebrate Steve’s life will be held on November 5, 2026, at 4:00 PM for visitation and 5:00PM service at Hopewell Baptist Church, Legacy Campus, located at 420 Hopewell Church Road, Monroe, NC 28110. Friends and family are invited to gather and honor the remarkable life of a man who was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. May we carry forward Steve's legacy of love, service, and dedication, keeping his memory alive in our hearts forever.
