Sterling Sunnyboy Featherstone, a beloved father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on June 19, 1942, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Sterling was a cherished member of the community, known for his warmth, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his family and friends.
Sterling was preceded in death by his devoted spouse, Rosette Frathersone, his parents, James and Geneva Atkinson Featherstone, six sisters, Delorse Featherstone, Caudette Featherstone, Dora Brown, Clarice Young, Jeanette Hughley, Charlette Alderson, and three brothers, Walter Featherstone, James Featherstone, and Nathaniel Featherstone. He now joins them in eternal rest.
He leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory, including one sister, Fannie Cartwright, and one brother, Stanley Featherstone. Sterling was a proud father to his sons, Vincent Featherstone and Sterling Featherstone, and his daughters, Rhonda Featherstone Hamler and Maria Featherstone Steward. His legacy continues through his twelve grandchildren, who brought immense joy and pride to his life.
Sterling spent his career working in a bakery, where he was known for his hard work, dedication, and the delightful treats he crafted. Outside of work, he found peace and happiness in the great outdoors, spending countless hours hunting and fishing. These activities were not just hobbies but an integral part of who he was, bringing him closer to nature and providing him with solace and joy.
A service to honor and celebrate Sterling's life will be held on October 3, 2026, at 1:00 PM at John P. Franklin. Family and friends are invited to gather and share in the memories of a man whose life touched so many.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Sterling's memory. His generous spirit and love for his community will continue to inspire those who knew him.
Sterling Sunnyboy Featherstone will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, kindness, and strength will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
