In Loving Memory

Stephen (Steve)
November 5, 1946 — July 13, 2026
Stephen "Steve" Miller, a dedicated public servant, loving family man, and passionate sports enthusiast, passed away peacefully at home on July 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was 79 years old.
Born on November 5, 1946, in Medina, Ohio, Steve was the beloved son of Walter and Ruthe (Robertson) Miller, who preceded him in death. He graduated from Perkins High School in 1965, setting the stage for a life characterized by service and commitment. After high school, Steve proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a Machinist Mate, an experience that instilled in him a deep sense of duty and discipline.
Following his military service, Steve pursued higher education, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Police Science and Administration from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico. His passion for helping others led him to a distinguished career as a firefighter and paramedic with Perkins Township, where he rose to the rank of Captain. His career further blossomed when he served as a sheriff’s deputy and eventually retired from the Savannah, Georgia Fire Department as an Assistant Fire Chief. Never one to rest on his laurels, Steve embarked on a second career as a realtor, where his integrity and warmth won him many friends and clients until he finally retired and settled in Columbus, Ohio.
On June 14, 1986, Steve married the love of his life, Lisa Miller, with whom he shared 40 wonderful years. Together, they built a loving family, raising three beautiful daughters: Melissa Miller (Steven Patterson), Maureen Foust (Anthony), and Brittany Miller. His legacy lives on through his four cherished grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
Steve's life was also filled with simple pleasures. An avid fan of the Cleveland Indians, now known as the Guardians, he rarely missed a game and enjoyed spending his free time cheering for his favorite team. His love for baseball was infectious, and he often shared this passion with his family and friends.
Steve is survived by his devoted wife, Lisa; his daughters and their partners; his brother, Tom Miller, and his family; and his four beloved cats, who were constant companions in his retirement years. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit and the love he shared will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Steve's memory to a cause close to his heart. His was a life well-lived, marked by service, love, and a steadfast commitment to his family and community.
