Stephen Ross, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on May 5, 2026, at the Jackson Hospice Home after a courageous four-year battle with colon cancer. Born on March 23, 1975, in Jackson, Michigan, Steve was the cherished son of Lee and JoLynn Ross. Though his life was cut short, his spirit and impact will be remembered by all who knew him.
Steve's journey was marked by a deep love for his family and friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Charles and Shirley Ross, and Robert and Evelyn Russell. He leaves behind his devoted sisters, Kirsten (Rick) Davis and Shannon (Scott) DeWyse, who were his lifelong companions and confidants. Steve was a proud and loving uncle to his nephew, Alex Koke, and niece, Jackie Koke, who brought immense joy to his life.
Educated at Western High School, Steve graduated in 1993 and went on to earn his bachelor's degree from Saginaw Valley State University in 2000. His professional life was spent with H&R Block, where he was a dedicated and respected member of the team for many years.
Steve had a passion for movies, especially the epic journeys of the Star Wars and Harry Potter series. His love for these stories was a reflection of his own adventurous spirit and imaginative mind. Those who knew him well will remember his excitement during movie marathons and his ability to quote lines with perfect timing.
In addition to his immediate family, Steve's life was enriched by the steadfast friendship and camaraderie of Jeff Cottrell, Dean Potter, Todd Tippens, and Jeff Roush, who were his extended family and shared countless memories and experiences with him.
Steve will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his friends and family, his infectious laughter, and his kind heart. He had an incredible ability to make people feel valued and loved, a testament to the warmth and compassion he carried within him.
A memorial service to celebrate Steve's life will be held on July 25, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Concord, located at 201 Hanover St, Concord, MI 49237. Family and friends are invited to gather and share in the remembrance of a life well-lived.
In honor of Steve's memory, the family suggests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting his spirit of generosity and kindness. Though he may no longer be with us, his legacy of love and friendship will continue to inspire all who had the privilege to know him.
