Stephen Leslie Wright, born on August 20, 1959, in the close-knit community of Mission, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on January 23, 2026, at the age of 66. His journey was marked by a steadfast dedication to family, country, and an enduring zest for life. Stephen was the beloved son of Billie Jo Featherstone and stepson to Charles Featherstone. He cherished his family deeply and found immense joy in the relationships he nurtured throughout his life. Stephen's legacy continues through his four sons, Stephen (Martha), David (Patricio), Dylan, and Taylor, who were his pride and joy. His brothers, James (Heladia) and John (Cher), were his lifelong companions and confidants. Stephen was also a doting grandfather, blessed with grandchildren who brought him endless laughter and love. His extended family of nieces and nephews, each holding a special place in his heart, will fondly remember his warmth and humor. Stephen's journey began in Somerset, Texas, where he completed his high school education. Driven by a sense of duty and adventure, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served with distinction for 16 years. His time in the military was marked by camaraderie and dedication, values he carried into his civilian life. Following his service, Stephen pursued higher education and became a Registered Nurse, a profession through which he extended his compassion and care to countless individuals. Stephen's life was rich with interests and passions that brought him joy and fulfillment. A fun-loving and witty spirit, he was a devoted fan of the San Antonio Spurs, reveling in each victory and sharing fervent discussions with fellow fans. The great outdoors called to him, and he found solace and excitement in nature's embrace. Hunting for collectibles was a cherished hobby, each find a testament to his inquisitive nature and appreciation for history. A celebration of Stephen's life will be held on May 22, 2026, at 9:45 a.m. at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Family, friends, and all whose lives he touched are invited to gather in remembrance of a remarkable man who lived with kindness and integrity.
