Stephen Golding
September 9, 1964 — April 11, 2026
It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stephen Golding, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend to many. Stephen departed this world peacefully in his home on April 11, 2026, after a courageous battle with stage 4 lung cancer. Born on September 9, 1964, in Mechanicsville, Virginia, Stephen's journey through life was marked by kindness, creativity, and a profound love for family and nature.
Stephen was the cherished son of the late Charles Golding and Patricia Baldwin. His parents instilled in him a strong work ethic and a love for the simple joys of life, values that he carried with him and passed down to his children. Stephen is predeceased by his dear brother, David, whose memory Stephen held close throughout his life.
Stephen’s artistic soul found its perfect outlet in his lifelong career as a painter. His work was not merely an occupation but a true expression of his vibrant and creative spirit. His keen eye for color and form brought a unique beauty to every project he touched, leaving behind a legacy of artistry that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
Outside of his professional life, Stephen was an avid jet skier, with an enduring passion for the water and the great outdoors. Whether he was skimming across the waves or enjoying the serenity of a quiet lake, Stephen felt most alive when surrounded by nature’s splendor. His adventurous spirit and his love for the outdoors were infectious, often drawing friends and family to share in his joy.
Stephen was a devoted father to his three children, Mitchell, Madison, and Michael, who were the pride and joy of his life. He was a guiding light and steadfast supporter, always encouraging them to pursue their dreams with the same passion and determination that he exemplified. Stephen found immense joy in his role as a grandfather to two precious grandchildren, in whom he delighted and cherished every moment spent together.
Stephen's life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and the importance of savoring each moment. His gentle spirit, infectious laughter, and unwavering kindness touched the lives of everyone he met. Though he has left this world, Stephen’s memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
A celebration of Stephen’s life will be held on a date yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Stephen's honor, to continue his legacy of kindness and generosity.
In this time of sorrow, we take comfort in knowing that Stephen is reunited with his beloved family members who have gone before him. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved him.
