Stephen Francois Gauthier

February 17, 1943 — April 23, 2026

Stephen Francois Gauthier, a loving husband, dedicated father, and cherished grandfather, departed this life peacefully on April 23, 2026, in Ardmore, Tennessee, at the age of 83. Born on February 17, 1943, in Alexandria, Louisiana, Stephen was the beloved son of Lawrence Paul and Doretta Jean Gauthier, who preceded him in death. Stephen’s life was a testament to service, family, and the simple joys that make every day special. As a young man, he attended St. Rita's, Menard Memorial High School, and Bolton High School, where he laid the foundation for a life characterized by dedication and perseverance. His commitment to his country was reflected in his 20 years of honorable service in the U.S. Army, where he proudly served 31 months in Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart for his bravery and sacrifice. After retiring from the military, Stephen transitioned to a career with the U.S. Post Office, where he served as a Station Manager for 20 years. His work ethic was unparalleled, as he tirelessly provided for his family and ensured they never wanted for anything. On April 18, 1969, Stephen married the love of his life, Gloria Jean Antee. Together, they crafted a beautiful life filled with love and laughter over their 57 years of marriage. Stephen and Gloria raised two devoted sons, Chadwick Brian Gauthier and Stephen Randall Gauthier, whose lives continue to reflect the values their father instilled in them. Stephen's legacy is enriched by his five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and pride to his later years. Stephen’s passions extended beyond his career and family. He found great solace in the tranquility of nature and spent many happy hours gardening and raising rabbits and an array of birds, including chickens, quail, and exotics. An avid sports fan, Stephen enjoyed watching basketball, especially during the Los Angeles Lakers' Kobe era, and was a devoted supporter of LSU Football. His love for fishing was legendary, particularly his skill with catfish using Noodles, Yo-Yos, and Trot lines, even if reversing a boat proved a challenge. Stephen is survived by his devoted wife, Gloria; his sons, Chadwick and Stephen, along with Stephen's wife, Krista; his brothers, James and Gregory Gauthier; his sisters, Anita Vlk and Kathryn Kinalidis; and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He joins his parents and his siblings Joseph, H. Pierre, and Richard Gauthier, Mary Conway, Juanell Greer, and Gwendolyn Gonzales in eternal rest. Stephen Francois Gauthier's life was a tapestry of love, service, and dedication. His unwavering commitment to his family and country leaves an indelible mark on all who knew him. He will be remembered not only for his achievements but for the warmth and kindness he showed to everyone he met. As we celebrate his life, we find comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on in the hearts of those he loved.
